Why India?
"As Christians, we feel compelled to act...
Until the last generation, India was a forgotten nation on the far side of the world. Today it has leaped into the foreground as one of the most important players in world events.
- India will soon surpass China as the world's most populous nation. One of every six people on earth lives in India.
- A nuclear standoff makes the border between India and Pakistan one of the most dangerous places in today's world.
- Poverty in India's slums and rural villages is among the worst in the world. As Christians, we cannot ignore these needs.
- India contains one fourth (412 million) of the 1.6 billion people on earth who never heard the Gospel. "

ReplyDeleteI followed the link given in this article & was amazed at the good work christians are doing in India. This is inspite of being torched alive. Eleven churches were set ablaze in Orissa yesterday. Only true love for fellow human beings can bring about such good work without retaliation.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't Indians reach out to the poor & suffering people in the same manner.....with the Word of God in one hand & bowl of cereal in another??????????.India not only needs economic development, but also spiritual awakening. Only then will we have visionaries like Gandhi.
Instead of crying 'wolf', why don't the critics do some good work? Instead of forcefull reconversion or taking away their privileges ,why don't they provide for their physical or spiritual needs?
Christianity is not a western religion. The west adopted it long after Indians! Yet they are known as Christian nation whereas India is still known as a Hindu nation. What is your real worry??
